You know when you’re watching a nature documentary and they do that thing where they speed up the growth of a flower from the course of weeks to a matter of seconds? That’s what it has felt like these past few days. It’s insane how fast everything feels, suddenly. Before we know it, we’ll be hoisting the “Best Grocery Store” award over our heads for the 35th year in a row at Retail Gala 2050, an event that doesn’t exist, but should.
After the signs go up to tell you (on the outside) that the store is called Gus’s, and (inside) which way to the fresh fruit and the bulk grocery goods, we’ll only have one thing left. We’ve been dreaming of this moment since back when Gus’s was just a notion: putting up shelves, and then filling those shelves with our incredible selection of products. The store will never be this empty again. Which is another crazy notion, come to think of it. If we are going to leave any scavenger hunt clues that lead to buried treasure in the store, now’s the time.
And now is also the time to join the Gus’s team. We already have some cool folks working for us, so if you or someone you know is also a cool folk in need of a job, send them our way – they can apply on our website, and of course we are very available to answer any questions you cool folks have.
Anyway, watch this space. We are so close to announcing our opening date that we can taste it. And guess what? It tastes like dates, the fruit. Which we are going to carry. And they’re delicious.
